About MeProjects
Hans Kaas Documentary
High in the mountains of Ecuador, a Dutch cheesemaker produces authentic Gouda-style cheese from local milk, 10,000 kilometers from home.
High in the mountains of Ecuador, a Dutch cheesemaker produces authentic Gouda-style cheese from local milk, 10,000 kilometers from home. His cheeses have become an unlikely local delicacy, but behind the craft lies a story about belonging and finding your place between cultures.
Role
Director & Editor
The focus on this project was the quiet connection between the two cultures. The film captures their differences, but also the subtle similarities that often go unnoticed until they meet in everyday life.
Myopie
A confrontational shortfilm about eye health, following the rising impact of myopia among young people.
A confrontational shortfilm about eye health, following the rising impact of myopia among young people. Designed to be experienced both as an Instagram release and as an educational screening for parents and children through the Dutch Association of Orthoptists (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Orthoptisten).
The film uses visual distortion, close perspective, and shifting clarity to simulate how vision slowly deteriorates, turning everyday habits into something immediate and hard to ignore.
Role
Editor
The visual language and rhythm of the film are shaped through pacing and distortion as narrative tools. Editing is used to mirror the experience of deteriorating vision, balancing discomfort with accessibility to create an awareness piece that feels direct rather than instructional.
Scrub
A horror shortfilm about a woman slipping into a psychotic episode where memory and reality are blending.
A horror shortfilm about a woman slipping into a psychotic episode where memory and reality are blending. Birds become an unsettling presence throughout the film, echoing and interrupting her sense of control.
Role
Editor
What unfolds is no longer a clear narrative but a slow collapse of perception. Sound arrives before the image, as if it already knows what will happen. Silence stretches longer than it should. Cuts refuse explanation and only create interruption.
Built in 48 hours under strict time constraints. Editing defined the film through rhythm, restraint, and the decision to let sound carry meaning where image could not.
Peephole
A conservative security systems installer suspects a conspiracy when he does a job for his sister's workplace: the campaign office of a democratic mayor.
A conservative security systems installer suspects a conspiracy when he does a job for his sister's workplace: the campaign office of a democratic mayor.
Role
Editor
Editing focused on building tension and curiosity through withheld information. Drawing from the rhythm of Uncut Gems, the trailer is shaped through rapid cuts, overlapping impulses, and controlled chaos, implying a larger narrative without revealing its structure.
Het Begint in je Eigen Tuin
In neatly maintained gardens, nature slowly disappears.
In neatly maintained gardens, nature slowly disappears. Grass is cut too short, hedges are shaped into control, and automated lawn systems leave little room for life to return. The story begins in the domestic garden, where small decisions accumulate into a wider environmental impact.
Role
Director & Editor
Editing is based on observation and structure, using repetition and visual contrast to highlight ecological decline without heavy narration, letting patterns speak for themselves.
Geestesziekte
A psychological thriller about a lonely boy who takes a popular party drug and begins to lose his grip on reality.
A psychological thriller about a lonely boy who takes a popular party drug and begins to lose his grip on reality. When the situation escalates, he discovers the pill was only a placebo, and that the hallucinations come entirely from his own mind.
Role
Director & Editor
The film is constructed through psychological escalation. Editing leans into confusion and disorientation, shaping reality as unstable and fragmented. The aim is to trap the viewer inside the same uncertainty as the protagonist. Water returns throughout the film as a sensory motif, moving between moments of grounding and overwhelm. Flowing and distorted water sounds bridge states of panic and clarity, reflecting the protagonist's struggle to regain control.
